44 Your mission to design The New Slussen does not include submission proposals for the surrounding cultural interests. However, an architectural design worthy of a permanent Nobel Museum/Center in the area would significantly increase the attractiveness of the area on the whole as well as bring international focus to the region. 2 (2) Sweden´s most significant architectural project would come closer to a dignified permanent solution, especially if the architects involved in The New Slussen announced the importance in realizing a world class Nobel Museum/Center in the City of Stockholm. Pär Wästberg, Director General of the Swedish Institute, said in a statement to Tidningarnas Telegrambyrå (TT) in June 2008: “The international world ranks us low. We do not have a Louvre, nor any pyramids, and no big classical cultural heritage.” That fact is hard to change. However, here is a fantastic opportunity to create a modern, monumental building, suitable in supporting the more than one hundred year old tradition of the world´s greatest and most well known science award - The Nobel Prize.
